The hotel was converted from a 1920s post office and gives an old-fashioned feel with all modern amenities. Breakfast and spending time in the patio were our favorite moments. The superb English-style breakfast included cereal, fresh fruits, eggs, beef sausage, and bacon. Coffee was great! We spent some time exploring the area's activities, including a round of golf at the nearby pristine course.
My children wanted more kid-friendly activities.

Loved everything. luxury all around but in a sophisticated (Old english) way. Luxury bedsheets, cutlery etc. Huge rooms, huge bathroom, delicious bath gels; you couldn't ask for more. 5 Star in every way. Wonderful staff especial Zack at the reception. Food is excellent and well priced, the breakfast in the sunny room is such a great way to start the day. The general manager too made sure to ask all is well every time we met. 5 star treatment all the way and at an affordable price.
Loved everything, nothing negative to write about.

We loved our stay at this hotel! The location was perfect, just a short walk to the Rosebank GauTrain station and close to all the sights we wanted to see. Our room was incredibly spacious, with a huge bathroom and comfortable bed. The staff were fantastic, very welcoming and helpful. And can we talk about the breakfast? It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had with a wide selection of fresh fruits and a delicious hot menu. We also appreciated the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and the environment.
Nothing not too like.

Exceptional finishes and decor, great staff.
The coffee served at breakfast, I have a feeling is Nescafe. The taped music also gets a bit much after a while.

Our group of friends had an amazing stay at a beautifully preserved boutique hotel. the location was perfect as it was near the Gautrain station which made transportation easy. We had quick access to Rosebank mall which was the best in Johannesburg. the local mall was also conveniently located, and we felt safe in the northern suburb of Rosebank. the rooms were spacious, clean and had comfortable beds, plush pillows, and nice bathrooms. the service was exceptional, and the breakfast was pleasant. the staff were welcoming and professional. We were also pleased with the facility's aircornditioning system.
The hotel was located in a busy street which made finding parking outside a challenge.

The suites of this hotel are total luxury. The living area is large with a dinning room, living area, fresh fruit upon arrival, flat screen TV and a guest bathroom. The bedroom was excellent, a completely comfortable bed, flat screen TV, private patio attached to my ground floor suite. The main bathroom, had very large bathtub plus a separate shower with wall jets. Toiletries are first class. Towel warmer is the largest I've ever seen. The business center had a state of the art computer and printer for guest use at no charge. Breakfast was included and was excellent. WiFi free with a very good signal. Everything at this hotel is top notch. It is easily the most luxurious boutique hotel in Jburg. A great find for the price, it was cheaper than all the other hotels in the Rosebank area. The Gautrain is a few steps away, the staff will meet you there if you let them know. A wonderful shopping mall in next door and the staff if great.
This is a very minor design flaw, only one electrical outlet in the suite for recharging all my gadgets.

I chose this hotel for attending a congregation because it provided excellent event facilities. The conference space and meeting rooms were well-equipped and spacious, making it easy to conduct business meetings. The staff was attentive and responsive, ensuring a smooth and successful event.
One service that I missed for my work was a dedicated business center. While the hotel had all the essential amenities, it would have been convenient to have a dedicated space with printers, scanners, and other office equipment readily available.

This was easily my favorite stay in a hotel in Gauteng, we love weekend getaways to joburg and we do them regularly, The Monarch's design and fabulous interior took our breath away, but what made our visit the greatest was the staff, upon arrival, Jan met us at reception and chatted to us about the reason for our visit, and then surprising us with a bottle of fine sparkling wine in our room. They were all so accommodating and friendly, we felt right at home. Upon arriving in our room, we noticed that it was a non smoking room, we phoned reception to ask if they offer smoking rooms and in about 5 minutes we were in our new room, which was definitely a much more luxurious and expensive room, so without asking we got upgraded. We had room service and breakfast in our room; they did so much for us through our entire stay, and as Sunday morning arrived, and we got a phone call from reception, telling us that we are free to stay as long as we want, as the checkout time of 11am, didn't matter. We stayed until 3pm, sitting on the veranda, going to nearby attractions and walking the beautiful streets of Rosebank. The Monarch Hotel has a policy that they don’t allow any under 12's. Some people might not like this, but we totally loved this, as there were no disturbances, and they kept a certain old world charm, where the grown-ups are allowed to taste wine, smoke cigars and delight in cocktail hour at 11am. There is simply not one thing that I would want to change about our stay at this Fabulous Hotel. Thanks again Jan and your team.

The location was ideal, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We also loved that it was just a short walk from the Gautrain, making it convenient for airport transfers. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, ensuring that our every need was taken care of. The spacious and comfortable rooms provided the perfect haven for our large family, and the elegant colonial decor added a touch of charm to our stay. We truly enjoyed our time exploring the area's activities, including golfing at the nearby courses. It was a great start to our visit to South Africa.
For families with children, it would be great if the hotel offered a wider variety of desserts.
